TRACT 81: RICHEST SOULS ON EARTH

''Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven'' Matthew 5:3

The starting beatitude of Jesus in the Bible is the blessedness of being poor in spirit. It opens the gate to the kingdom of heaven to those who recognize their spiritual poverty and needed to be spiritually filled. The poor in spirit always desire more of the word of God; more of the worship of God and more willful power to promote the kingdom of God. Those who have wealth, fame, money and power on earth without salvation, are not rich in the sight of God but the poorest souls on earth ''So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God'' Luke 12:21

The poor in spirit have humble spirit to become followers of Jesus. The poor in spirit, though may be rich, are empty of pride and worldliness. Their love for the things of God is more than love for the things of this world; as they use their energy, time, money and talents to promote God's kingdom.

God desires everyone to be rich on earth and lay up their treasures in heaven. He wants sinners to mourn and repent of their sins. God wants unbelievers and idolaters to recognize their spiritual poverty and humbly come to the Lord Jesus for salvation, sanctification and infilling of the Holy Spirit. The sad news is that many will not come to the Lord Jesus to fill their spiritual poverty and will miss eternal life in God's kingdom.

The Good News is that God loves you and he is beckoning on you to recognize your spiritual emptiness and follow Jesus. Jesus has the power to save you from sin, sickness and Satan and make you fit for God's kingdom. He is waiting for you now.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your love and call to follow you. I recognize my spiritual poverty and the need to follow Christ. Have mercy upon me Lord Jesus. Save me, sanctify me, baptize me in the Holy Spirit and grant me the grace to walk daily with you in Jesus' Name. Amen
