TRACTS 160: OBEDIENCE BRINGS BLESSINGS "The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas, and behold, a greater than Jonas is here" Mathew 12:41 . Nineveh was a city known for its ungodliness and wickedness. God saw their moral perversion and sent His messenger, the prophet Jonah, to warn them of the wrath He planned to unleash. When they heard Jonah’s preaching, they were pricked in their hearts. In sober reflection, they fasted and prayed, seeking God’s forgiveness and mercy. Seeing their humble hearts, God relented and turned away His wrath(Jonah Chapter 3). Repentance is the hallmark of salvation. God sent Jesus not to condemn the world, but that through Him all might be saved by simple obedience to His Word.
