TRACTS 160: OBEDIENCE BRINGS BLESSINGS

"The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas, and behold, a greater than Jonas is here" Mathew 12:41.

Nineveh was a city known for its ungodliness and wickedness. God saw their moral perversion and sent His messenger, the prophet Jonah, to warn them of the wrath He planned to unleash. When they heard Jonah’s preaching, they were pricked in their hearts. In sober reflection, they fasted and prayed, seeking God’s forgiveness and mercy. Seeing their humble hearts, God relented and turned away His wrath(Jonah Chapter 3).

Repentance is the hallmark of salvation. God sent Jesus not to condemn the world, but that through Him all might be saved by simple obedience to His Word. To escape God’s wrath and receive the blessing of a good and eternal life, there must be personal repentance, parental repentance, and priestly repentance — just as there was repentance in Nineveh.

Personal Repentance: The first and most essential step toward salvation. It means acknowledging your sins, feeling true godly sorrow, turning away from them completely, and walking into the peace and eternal life God gives.

Parental Repentance: The sacred duty of every father, mother, or guardian to acknowledge their shortcomings and how their actions affect the home. Parents are called to live transparent, righteous lives and to lead their children in the ways of God.

Priestly Repentance: The sacred duty of spiritual leaders is to warn and teach the people in the ways of the Lord. Pastors and spiritual leaders are to repent of leading the people of God into carnality and worldliness. They must humble themselves before God and declare the undiluted word of God.

Dear Reader! Has this message on repentance pricked your heart? If yes, please pray this prayer.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I come before you in humility and contrite heart. I believe in your sent words and warning and now ready to turn totally unto you just like the people of Nineveh. Have mercy upon me and made me clean by the blood of the righteous lamb Jesus. I receive your grace to obey your word and do your will every day of my life in Jesus' Name. Amen
