TRACT 67: GOT WEDDING GARMENT?
“And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth” Matthew 22: 11-13
A parable was told by the Saviour of a king who made a wedding for his son. The king sent forth his servants to call those who were given invitation that the wedding banquet was set but none honoured the invitation. Some went their ways into their farms and businesses while some rough-handled the king’s servants and killed them in the process. The king out of anger sent forth his armies to destroy the murderers and their city. Having destroyed the murderous sinners, he sent forth is servants into the high ways to invite as many people as they could see into the wedding banquet. Upon their arrival, he spotted a man who was not putting on a wedding garment and commanded his servants to cast him out into a place of torment “For many are called, but few are chosen” Matthew 22:14.
The kingdom of God is opened to everyone; white and colour, small and great, poor and rich, sinners and saints, believers and unbelievers. The king represents God; the servants represent God’s prophets; the people that turned down the wedding invitation represent the Jews; the people on the highways represent the gentiles (non Jews); while the man that had no wedding garment represents unrepentant sinner. The kingdom of God was first opened to the Jews but many rejected it. Their rejection made God to shift attention to the gentile nations and many gentiles yielded the call unto salvation. However, not all that yielded the call were saved but only those who truly repented from sin. The man who had no wedding garment was cast out because he came not to the Lord in full repentance and preparedness.
Just like the king was displeased with the invited guest who turned down the call into the wedding banquet; God is not pleased with the Jews who dishonour the call unto salvation. Just like the wrath of the king fell upon those who rough-handled and killed his servants; the wrath of God is upon those who persecute the Christians. Just like the wrath of the king fell upon the man that had no wedding garment; the wrath of God is upon all unrepentant sinners. The sad news is that all unbelievers and unrepentant sinners will end up their souls in hell fire.
The Good News is that God loves you and wants you to urgently respond to His call unto salvation. He wants you to fully turn away from all sins and receive His full salvation. Jesus has the power to cleanse you from all sins. He is waiting for you now.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your love and invitation unto salvation. I repent from all my sins, and I am fully ready to accept your call unto righteousness. Have mercy upon me and cleanse me in your precious blood. Save me, sanctify me, baptize me in the Holy Spirit and grant me the grace to always appear before you in holiness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
