“Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it” Proverb 22:6.
We live in the twenty first century world where many parents, guardians and caretakers have neglected the moral and Christly (spiritual) upbringing of their wards to the detriment of worldly fashion, entertainments, immoralities and fast moving internet world. Children are gifts and heritage of the Lord and a child not properly and prayerfully brought up in the ways of the Lord, ends up becoming an instrument of destruction in the hands of devil. The Saviour Jesus understood the importance of catching the children young for him; that was why he became displeased with the disciples who rebuked those that brought them unto him “But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein” Mark 10:14-15.
It is the will of God for all parents, guardians and caretakers to bring their wards in the way of the Lord. The minds of children are so receptive that they will gladly receive the kingdom of God if you present Jesus to them as their best friend and teacher. No one can bring his/her ward(s) in the way of the Lord if he/she is not born again (true follower of Jesus). Imagine what would become of a child whose parent(s) is an adulterer, smoker and drunkard! Of course, the child would grow up to become a fornicator and nuisance in the society. Imagine what would become of a child whose parent(s) is an unbeliever of idolater! Of course, the child would grow up to become a religion fanatic or worshipper of idols. Imagine what would become of a child whose parent(s) is a backslidden Christian (lost in fashion, worldliness and regular church absenteeism)! Of course, the child would grow up to become a seducer of opposite gender, worldly and fake Christian. Now, Imagine what would become of a child whose parents are true followers of Christ; and prayerfully bringing up their God’s given child in the way of the Lord! Of Course, the child will become a shining light in the family, church and society, and fit for the kingdom of Heaven.
God is not happy with sinning parents, guardians and caretakers whose lifestyles (after the works of flesh: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, anger, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envying, murders, drunkenness, and reveling, smoking, stealing, lying tattooing, idolatry adornments and corrupt practices) have sown the seeds unrighteousness and corruption in the minds of their wards. God is not happy with unbelieving parents, guardians, caretakers and idolaters who have poisoned the minds of their wards against knowing Jesus and becoming his true followers. God is not happy with backslidden Christian parents who have introduced worldliness (sensual wears; seductive adornments/make up; worldly music, movies and dance) to their wards at their tender ages. The sad news is that all parents, guardians and caretakers who fail to repent and bring their wards in the way of the Lord will face the full wrath of God in eternity.
The Good News is that God loves you and wants you to receive the kingdom of God as a little child; so that you can become an heir of heaven. He wants you to repent from your sin, unbelief and worldliness, and ask Jesus to be you Saviour and Lord. He wants you to be a true follower of Jesus so that you can show your wards in the way of the Lord. Jesus is calling on you now
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for correcting me in love. Forgive me for many ways I have misled my wards. Save me, sanctify me, baptize me in the Holy Spirit and grant me the wisdom to bring my wards in the way of the Lord in Jesus’ Name. Amen
