“Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea” Revelation 1:11.
The book of Revelation Chapter Two and Three contains the commendations and warning words of Jesus from Heaven in form of written letters by the hands of Apostle John; who was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day (Sunday). The letters which were addressed to the first century churches (in Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis and Philadelphia) are relevant to today’s churches; as the living Jesus is not happy with what is going on in the Church he purchased with his precious blood. The churches in Smyrna and Philadelphia were commended without any rebuke. The church in Ephesus left her first love for God while the church in Pergamous allowed false teachers to teach false doctrines. The church in Thyatira permitted Jezebel woman to teach and seduce men into sexual immoralities and idolatry. The church in Sardis became dead spiritually while worldliness and lukewarmness crept into the church in Loadicea. Jesus Christ is still warning the churches today just as he warned the first century churches “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches” Revelation 3:22.
It is the will of God that churches all over the world hear what the Spirit is saying. The Spirit of God is saying that the church should (a) repent and get back to the first love and first work of getting souls ready for heavenly kingdom (b) repent from teaching false doctrines and teach sound undiluted word of God (c) desist from allowing Jezebel types of women (who are putting sensual wears; seductive ornaments/make up; without head covers and inward purity) to minister in any capacity (teaching, singing, ushering and others) (d) repent from taking Christ position as the church founder, and submit to the leadership of the Holy Spirit (e) repent from allowing worldliness through music, fashion, entertainments, idolatry and immoralities into the church.
God is not happy with the spiritual state of His church. He is not happy with founders of churches who called themselves into ministry for fame; money making; and with their personal pictures and postal littering everywhere. He is not happy with backslidden ministers who are seeking the kingdom of this world first rather than the kingdom of God. God is not happy with preachers and teachers who are afraid to preach and teach the truth because of fear of hurting and loosing members. He is not happy with women’ ministers; who are lost in the world of fashion; seducing church members into idolatry and immoralities. The Sad News is that all churches given to worldliness, idolatry, immoralities, false doctrines, lukewarmness are open gate to hell and will face the full wrath of God in eternity.
The Good News is that God loves His Church and He also loves you. He wants you to repent from sin, coldness, lukewarnmess, worldliness, idolatry, immoralities and false doctrines. He wants you to embrace holiness and do the first work. Jesus and the Holy Spirit of God want to have full control over your life so that you can be a true member of his Church and zealous unto good works. Jesus is waiting for you now. Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for this timely message. I humbled myself at your word. Forgive me all my sins. Save me, sanctify me, baptize me in the Holy Spirit and make me a shining light in your church in Jesus’ Name. Amen
