“And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the male factors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do…” Luke 23:33-34.
He was a preacher of repentance, righteousness and love while on earth. He preached: repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. He preached: except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of Scribe and Pharisees; ye shall no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. He preached love. He loved God with the all of his heart, soul and mind. He went about doing well; healing the sick, feeding the hungry, setting the captives free and raising the dead. In all these, he sinned not but was condemned to die on the cross by jealous religious leaders and sinners. He practiced what he preached as he prayed for all his accusers while on the cross to pacify God “Ye have heard hath it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, love our enemy, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you” Matthew 5:43-44.
It is the will of God that all (men, women, boys, girls and children) become His children. To become His children means to have peace with God and all men. No one can love all men or have peace with all men without first having peace with God. What does it mean to have peace with God? It means to have intimate fellowship with God through Christ. The children of God are born again Christians who have been to Jesus and received forgiveness of their sins in his atoning precious blood. They are saved, sanctified and Holy Spirit endued set of believers who daily exhibit the nine fruit of the Spirit (Love, Joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance) in themselves, dealings with all men and God.
God is not happy not happy with sinners who have not been to Calvary to seek forgiveness from Jesus but are living after the works of the flesh(Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, anger, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envying, murders, drunkenness, and reveling, smoking, stealing, lying tattooing, idolatry adornments and corrupt practices). God is not happy with the religious leaders of the world and their followers who believe not in the redemption work of Jesus. God is not happy with backslidden Christians who are always sinning, seeking forgiveness and toying with the grace of God. The sad news is that sinners, unbelievers and backslidden Christians will all go hell if they die without genuine repentance.
The God News is that the Heavenly Father loves you and He is eager to forgive you all our sins. He wants to save you, cleanse you in the precious blood of Jesus, baptize you in the Holy Spirit and make you his child. God wants to beautify your life with the nine fruit of the Spirit so that you can have peace within, with Him and with all men. He cannot do all these in your life with you first surrendering your life to Christ. He is waiting for you now.
Prayer: Heavenly Father; thank you for the words of Christ on the cross of Calvary and the free gift of salvation provided me through your Son Jesus. Forgive me all my sins. Save me, sanctify me, baptize me in the Holy Spirit and grant me the grace to bear all the nine fruit of the spirit daily in Jesus’ Name. Amen
