TRACT 163: MAKE IT KNOWN

“Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.” — Philippians 4:5

The world says: “Follow the crowd. Do what everyone does. Live as you please.” But God says: “Let your moderation be known.”

There is a life that speaks louder than words. It is a life in Christ. Many will never open a Bible, but they read this kind of life: a life of consecration unto God in words, actions, habits and outlook, and a life of contentment clothed with humility and meekness. It is a sermon preached daily, at home, at work, at school and online. Whoever strives to live this way on earth is wise and ready for the kingdom of heaven. God is calling everyone to this life.

Why does God call us to moderation?
Because the Lord is at hand. Christ is coming, and every life will stand open before Him. Moderation is not about pleasing religious rules. It is the visible fruit of a heart that has been changed by Jesus.

In what areas can my moderation be made known?
In dressing: Dress to honour Christ. Modesty says, “I belong to God.”
In words: Let no filthy joke, gossip, curse or lie come from a mouth that praises God. Your tongue should bless, not wound.
In lifestyle: Worldly pleasures are good servants but terrible masters. Let them serve God; do not let them rule you.

Who can change me?
Honestly, no one can do this alone. All have wandered from God and loved the world. Only Jesus can save you and give you a new heart if you are willing to repent of your sins. He gives you the power to live righteously in this world. No one is too far gone. Today, turn back to Him, and He will receive you.

A Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me to moderation. I repent of every form of worldliness. Wash me in the blood of Jesus and give me strength to live in moderation, so that all may see Christ in me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
