TRACT 162: PEACE, PURITY & POWER
"Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord" (Hebrews 12:14).
Peace, purity, and power are the three hallmarks of a true Christian – a believer who has genuinely accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. These are not achievements of human effort; they are the direct result of a life yielded to God and indwelt by His Holy Spirit. A heart at peace becomes a life set apart in holiness, and a life set apart in holiness becomes a vessel through which the power of God can flow.
1. PEACE
True peace begins the moment a sinner repents and receives Christ. “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1). This is peace with God – no more guilt, condemnation, and fear of judgment, because sins have been forgiven. This enables one to extend peace toward others – forgiving offences, avoiding strife, and living without bitterness toward any man.
2. PURITY
Purity is more than outward behaviour; it begins in the heart and mind. “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8). True believers guard their thought life, knowing that impure thoughts left unchecked will eventually produce impure actions. A pure heart is what qualifies a believer to be used by God – “a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work” (2 Timothy 2:21).
3. POWER
A peaceable, purified life is then clothed with power – not human strength, but the power of the Holy Spirit. “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me” (Acts 1:8). This power equips believers for spiritual warfare. It emboldens to preach the gospel without fear, and it produces, day by day, the fruit of a Spirit-filled life – “love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance” (Galatians 5:22–23).
Peace, purity, and power are not reserved for a special class of Christians; they are the birthright of every child of God.If you desire this life, come to Christ today in repentance and faith. He will give you His peace, purify your heart and fill you with His power.
Prayer: “Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner. Forgive me and come into my heart. Give me Your peace, make me pure, and fill me with Your power to live for You from this day forward. In Jesus' Name - Amen.”
