TRACT 109: SEE HOW WE BUILT THE CHURCH
''Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ'' Jude 3 & 4.
Before you (church leaders, workers and members) turn the church into something else, see how the Church was built by us.
John the Baptist: I was a preacher of righteousness; I preached the message of repentance and sternly warned sinners to repent of sins. I was beheaded for speaking the truth; but the joy of it all was that I prepared the ground for Jesus to build his Church, and I am presently in heaven.
Jesus Christ: I embarked on forty days - forty nights prayer and fasting to receive power and instructions from God on how to build the Heavenly Church on earth. I humbled myself before God and denied myself of fame, and worldly pleasures; boldly preached righteousness and repentance of sin. I was crucified by religious leaders and sinners for speaking the truth. The joy of it all was that I earned salvation for humanity; and I am presently in heaven waiting to receive those that earnestly contend for the faith which I delivered to the saints.
Apostles: We left all, trekked long distances with Jesus and preached the kingdom of God. Many of us were murdered for preaching the truth. The joy of it all is that we are in heaven; save Judas Iscariot who is in hell because he loved the world more than Jesus - The church founder.
Saints (Apostles and Disciples): The church started on the day of Pentecost. That day we were in one accord in a place. The Holy Spirit descended upon us all and we were used of God. We preached the gospel in different languages and many souls were added to us. Our success story as a church was ascribed to the following:
1. Holy Spirit was the ruler of the Church.
2. No one took the position of Jesus as the founder and general overseer of the Church.
3. The word of God was our final authority and guide.
4. Our instruments of worship to God were psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.
5. We continued in one accord in apostle's doctrine, fellowship, prayer and evangelism.
6. There was no segregation and denomination barrier; we were one body in Christ as we joined other believers in Christ anytime and anywhere to worship God in spirit and truth.
It saddens the Lord seeing from heaven how churches have deviated from the faith. Just as the opening vision given to apostle John to the seven churches (in Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, Laodicea). Jesus is calling on the church (leaders, workers and menbers) to repent and earnestly contend for the faith which he delivered unto the saints.
Prayer: Heavenly father, thank you for your love and call back to faith. I am very sorry for toying with your grace. Forgive me for many times I have annoyed the Holy Spirit. I pray you to restore me back to the apostles' faith; and grant me the grace to serve you in spirit and truth, in Jesus Name. Amen.
