TRACT 106: FEAR YOUR PRESIDENT MORE THAN GOD?

''And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell'' Mathew 10:28.

The president of a particular country decreed that three of his country’s highest currencies be withdrawn from circulation and replaced with new ones. His country people were informed and deadline was set. Many rushed and made deposit into their bank accounts, some quickly spent them; while some others could not meet up with the deadline. Soon, cash notes became scarce and many could not lay hold on the new currency notes which were minted but few in circulation.

Consequentially, lives became unbearable for his country people who were not used to cashless policy. People began to use money to buy money. Their cry for hunger and pain made the middle governments mediate and approach the law court. The court ruled that the old currency notes remain legal tender along side with the new ones. The people having heard that the court ruled in their favour, refused to accept the old currency notes from one another; because their president had neither spoken nor change his decision. After many days, their president spoke and the people started accepting the old currency notes from one and another.

What could have made the people adhered strictly to the decree of just one man? Could it be because of the fear of losing their lives or fear of losing their money peradventure their president remains adamant on his first pronouncement that the old currency notes seized to be legal tender?

Just as most nations of the world have presidents who rule over them. There is a supreme being who is greater than any ruler of any nation. He is Almighty God. His decree is ''The soul that sinneth shall die'' Ezekiel 18:20. He is unchanging and capable of destroying the bodies and souls of sinners who disobey his commandments. His commandments are; ''..Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thy self'' Luke 10:27.

If you love yourself, you will fear God and abstain from evil (sexual immoralities, indecent dressing and seductive make up, corrupt scenes, pictures, videos, speeches and music, idolatry, smoking, alcoholism, gluttony, bleaching and corrupt practices) '' Abstain from all appearance of evil'' 1 Thessalonians 5:22. If you truly love your neighbours and God, you will relate peacefully with them and serve God in holiness of heart '' Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord'' Hebrews 12:14. If you really love your soul, you will belief in Jesus and accept him as Lord and Saviour '' For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life'' John 3:16. Just as the middle governments mediated for the masses; Jesus is the only mediator between God and men “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” 1 Timothy 2:5. With Jesus, your body and soul are secured in God’s hands.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your love. I believe you sent Jesus to save me from sin and to lead my soul to heaven. Have mercy upon my sins and unbelief and cleanse me in the precious blood if Jesus. Save me, purify my heart and grant me the grace to live daily in obedience to your commandments in Jesus' Name. Amen
