''And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and say, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men'' Luke 2:10-14.
On the night Jesus was born, the angel of God came down from heaven and announced the birth of the Saviour to the shepherds. A multitude of heavenly host also descended the earth to worship God in heavenly way. The three wise men saw the shining star of the Saviour; they needed salvation and sought for Jesus. They appreciated God by offering precious gifts to Jesus ''And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts: gold, and frankincense and myrrh'' Mathew 2:11.
December 25th is the Christmas day Christians all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus. The word Christmas originated from the Mass of Christ, a mass service which is called communion. Though, it is not recorded in the Bible that Jesus was born on the day; the day is dedicated to Christ. What then is the essence of Christmas? The song's lyrics by a little Asian Boy fully tell the essence of Christmas:
Christmas time is all about you and God staying together forever (2x). Santa Clus has nothing to do with Christmas, Christmas is not about Christmas tree, Christmas is not about toys, Christmas is not about new clothes or parties. So, friends, Christmas is all about Jesus, Jesus was born for you and me, Ask Jesus to be your friend, And give him a place in your heart, He will be your God and your Saviour.
Jesus came into the world, to bring light in the darkness, Jesus came into the world, to bind the broken heart, Jesus came into the world, to destroy the devils and his works, Jesus came into the world, to seek and save the lost, He is Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and The Prince of Peace.
Christmas is all about having Jesus in the heart forever, Christmas is all about offering our lives as sacrifice to Jesus, Christmas is all about having Jesus in our hearts.
It is not a sin to celebrate the birth of Jesus through feasting with friends and family but becomes sin when the celebration causes irritates heavens. The sad truth is that so many people who called themselves Christians celebrate Christmas in sin. Some take alcoholic drinks, smoke, commit sexual immoralities, wear sensual wears and seductive make up, watch corrupt videos, visit ungodly places, dance to worldly tune and get involved in ungodly practices. All these irritate God and His heavenly host; and any Christian who celebrates Christmas without genuine salvation is a candidate of hell.
The Good News is that God loves and send His only begotten Son to save you. He wants you to surrender your life totally to Christ as Lord and Saviour. John three verse sixteen states ''For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life''. Jesus is waiting for you now.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your love. I acknowledge my sins and repent of them all. Have mercy upon me and cleanse me in the precious blood of Jesus. Save me, sanctify me, baptize me in the Holy Spirit and grant me the grace to offer acceptable worship to you daily, in Jesus' Name. Amen
