TRACT 94: HAVE YOU DECIDED?

''From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?'' John 6:66-67.

They did follow Jesus simply because they had heard and seen him turning water into wine; healing the sick, setting the captives free from demonic oppression and doing wondrous miracles. Their zeal to follow Jesus became so strong after eating free breads and fishes miraculously provided by Jesus. But they soon became so disappointed in Jesus after he delivered a hard and undiluted sermon on the kingdom of God. They all left him save the twelve followers '' Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God'' John 6:68-69.

The cost of following Jesus is high but the gains are higher. Following Jesus is following the hard and narrow way of holiness that leads to heaven. It demands carrying one's cross and consistently following after Christ. Following Jesus demands hearing the word of God and doing His will. Following Jesus is denying the ways of worldliness and ungodliness; and saying good bye to the old world of sin. A song writer wrote: I have decided to follow Jesus, I have decided to follow Jesus, I have decided to follow Jesus, No turning back, No turning back, No turning back! Turning back from following Jesus is turning from the narrow and hard way of holiness that leads to heaven into the wide and easy way of worldliness that leads to hell.

The question to all sinners is that have you decided to forsake the ways of ungodliness (sexual immoralities, idolatry, bribery, seductiveness, evil imaginations and corrupt speeches, anger, lying, stealing, drunkenness, cigarette smoking, occultism, backbiting, and evil practices) and follow after Jesus? The question to all unbelievers is that have you decided to believe in the redemption work of God and follow after Jesus? The questions to backslidden Christians is that have you decided to forsake the wide and easy way of worldliness that leads to hell and follow Jesus on the narrow and hard way of holiness that leads to heaven? The truth is that Jesus is the only way that leads to heaven and only his true followers will make heaven.

The Good News is that God loves you and wants you to make heaven. He wants you to forsake every work of unrighteousness and follow Jesus on the heavenly narrow way of holiness. Jesus is willing to forgive all your sins and make you beloved child of God. He is waiting for you now

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your love and call to follow Jesus. I have made up my mind to surrender my life to Jesus and follow him till the end. Have mercy upon me and wash me in the precious blood of the lamb Jesus. Save me, sanctify me, baptize me in the Holy Spirit and grant me the grace to follow Jesus till the end, in Jesus' Name. Amen
