“For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the Scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven” Matthew 5:20.
The method of selection for admission into higher citadels of learning is usually on the basis of students’ performance in unified examination which possesses a cut off mark. Some institutions lower the cut off mark below average (50%) for academic placement while some set the cut of mark above 50%. This is not so for gaining admission into heaven as the require cut off mark is 100% Holiness. Anything below 100% is defilement and unacceptable for admission into heaven “And there shall in no wise enter into it anything that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life” Revelation 21:27.
Is it possible to be 100% holy on earth? With man, it is impossible but possible with the help of God. The self and religious righteousness of Scribes and Pharisees fall short of God’s righteousness. Their righteousness was like a filthy rag in the sight of God because of their lack of salvation, sanctification and Holy Spirit. An hundred percent holiness is attainable only with the possession of the three basic Christian experiences (Salvation, Sanctification and Holy Spirit Baptism).
Salvation is the deliverance from sin through faith in Jesus. This is the first step to attaining 100% holiness. Sanctification is the purification of the heart from impure thought. It is obtained through the meditation on the word of God, daily devotion to the Lord in prayer, and through fellowship with other genuine Christians. Holy Spirit baptism is the endowment of power from on high which guides into all truth. The Holy Spirit is only given to saved and sanctified believers. Holy Spirit daily plants the nine fruit of the Spirit (love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness and Temperance) in living souls aiming 100% holiness. Holy Spirit warns believers of the dangers of putting worldly adornments (make up, attachments, ladies trousers, mini and micro skirts, tattoo, demonic hair cut, body rings and chains). Holy Spirit warns believers of the danger of listening to corrupt speeches and music; watching corrupt scenes and movies. The sad news is that many sinners and unbelievers will not rush to possess the free gifts of salvation, salvation and Holy Spirit; and many believers will continue to grieve the Holy Spirit through worldly adornment.
The Good News is that God loves you and wants you to gain admission into heaven after your pilgrim journey on earth. He wants to give you one helper (Holy Spirit) to guide you in the way of Holiness. You cannot have this helper unless you turn away from sin and believe on the Lord Jesus. Jesus is waiting for you.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for you love and the free gift of salvation, sanctification and Holy Spirit. Have mercy upon me and forgive me all my sins. Save me, sanctify me, baptize me in the Holy Spirit and grant me the grace to adorn myself daily with the nine fruit of the Spirit in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
