TRACT 79: WHEN LAST?

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul” Mark 8:36-37

When last did you think of where to spend eternity after leaving earth? A song writer wrote: Where will you spend eternity? This question comes to you and me! Tell me, what shall your answer be? Where will you spend eternity? Eternity! Eternity! Where will you spend eternity? This calls for sober reflection as everyone will die one day, leave behind all things and depart to eternity. Are you busy doing good on earth and laying up treasures for yourself in heaven; or living in sins and worldly pleasures? “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal” Matthew 6:19-20.

The uttermost desire of God for everyone is to live the earth righteously with eternity in view. Heaven and hell are real and everyone will be received into one immediately after death. They are eternal destinations of no return. The dead sinners are presently regretting in hell for not laying up treasures for themselves in heaven while on earth. The dead unbelievers are weeping in hell for not accepting Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. The backslidden Christians are currently regretting for loving the world and its pleasures more than the love for God. They are all crying for mercy and asking God for second chance to come back to earth and lay up treasures for themselves in heaven; but too late for them. Have you counted the cost, if your soul should be lost forever in hell?

The laying up of treasures in heaven involves living Holy Spirit life, helping others and busy serving God on earth. No one can live a Holy Spirit filled life without the help of Jesus. Only Jesus can beg God to release His Holy Spirit on some who thirst for it. God is still warning sinners today to repent from every evil work of sin and begin to lay up treasures for themselves in heaven. He is still warning unbelievers to believe in Jesus as the Saviour of the whole world. God is still calling on backsliders to make their way right with Him. The sad news is that many will continue in sin, unbelief and worldliness and suddenly find themselves in hell.

The Good News is that God loves you and wants you to spend eternity with Him in heaven. He wants you to repent from sin, unbelief and worldliness. He wants you to serve Him with the whole of your might and do good on earth. God wants you to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour in order to have the needed grace to lay up treasures for yourself in heaven. Jesus is waiting for you now.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your love and for reminding me of eternity. I don’t want my soul to go to hell. Please, have mercy upon me and forgive me all my sins. Save me, sanctify me, baptize me in the Holy Spirit and grant me the grace to lay up for myself treasures in heaven daily in Jesus’ Name. Amen
