“And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him” Acts 8:30-31.
He was appointed by Candace queen of Ethiopians to be in charge of all her treasure. He left his country and traveled to Israel to worship God at Jerusalem because he was a lover of God. On his way back to Ethiopia and sitting on his chariot; he began to read the word of God written by prophet Isaiah: He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? For his life is taken from the earth. God saw the desire of Ethiopian Eunuch for salvation and sent him Philip to expound His word which he understood not. The Eunuch humbly received Philip in his chariot, listened and believe God’s word of salvation “And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God” Acts 8:37.
There are many religions in the world with different mode of worship. Many oftentimes travel to a far away country just like the Ethiopian Eunuch to worship God. They spent their resources, time and energy on p+ilgrimage to holy cities but never believe Jesus is the Saviour. This was not the case of Ethiopian Eunuch as he humbly accepted the gospel preached to him by Philip and earned God’s free salvation. Any religion in the world that does not reference Jesus is not acceptable in heaven.
God is displeased with worshippers who claim His worship but rejecting Jesus as the Saviour of the world. The judgment of God is upon all Idolatry worshippers and those who kneel before molten status of saints. The wrath of God is upon all false Christians who worship God not in truth and spirit. The sad news is that all who believe not Jesus Christ is the son of God will be received in hell after pilgrim journey on earth. The Good News is that God loves you and knows your heart desire to spend eternity with Him in heaven. He wants you to humble yourself like the Ethiopian Eunuch and gladly receive the gospel of salvation. Jesus is the only way that leads to God.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your love and the gospel of salvation. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God. Have mercy upon me and cleanse me from all my sins. Save me, sanctify me, baptize me in the Holy Spirit and grant me the grace to be your follower till the end in Jesus’ Name. Amen
