TRACT 65: NOT LOST BUT FOUND

“And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him. And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers” Luke 2:45-46.

Was tender Jesus lost at the age of twelve? Of course not, it was just that he had to be in fellowship which is the business of his heavenly Father on earth. It was so that after the completion of the yearly feast of Passover at Jerusalem, the parents of Jesus were on their way back to their town of residence. They thought Jesus was with their kinsfolk and acquaintance, but suddenly realized after a day journey that Jesus was not with them. They returned back to Jerusalem, kept searching for Jesus for three days until they found him in the temple conversing with the religious scholars “And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? Behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? Wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business? Luke 2:48-49.

What on earth could have made virtuous Mary and just Joseph whom God entrusted the Saviour of the whole world unto to lost their Saviour? Could it be that they were too busy with the secular things of the world or carried away by their religious activities? Whatever could be the reason; the good news was that they kept searching for the Saviour and found him in the house of God, conversing with the people who cared about the word of God and their salvation. But it was very disheartened that their kinsfolk and acquaintance did not follow Mary and Joseph back to Jerusalem to look for the tender Saviour.

It is a pity that many believers have abandoned the Saviour and his salvation for secular activities. It is a pity that many unbelievers will remain adamant in their religious activities and not humble themselves like the religious scholars, to know more about the Saviour Jesus. It is a pity sinners are not concerned that Jesus is missing in their lives, but busy chasing after the evil works of the flesh. The sad news is that backsliders, unbelievers and sinners who make no effort to search for the missing Saviour in their lives will end up in eternal lake of fire.

The Good News is that God loves you and does not want your soul to end up in lake of fire. He wants to repent from sin and unbelief, and search for the Saviour Jesus with all your heart. He wants you to make Jesus your Lord and Saviour. Jesus is not lost but very close to you. He is waiting for you now.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your love. I am very sorry for neglecting the saviour. Forgive me all my sins and cleanse me in the precious blood of Jesus. Save me, sanctify me, baptize me in the Holy Spirit and grant me the grace to abide with the Saviour always in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
