“For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God. And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and sinner appear?” 1 Peter 4: 17-18
The house of God which is the church of Christ is neither a hidden place for sinners nor a place of cover-up for disobedient nominal Christians. The flogging and casting away of false worshippers from the temple of God by Jesus Christ is a fore shadow of what would happen to children of disobedience; who claim to follow Christ but indulge in secret sins. Every work of members that made up the body of Christ will be revealed by fire and whosoever that is found defaulted in holiness will be cast to eternal lake of fire “ Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are” 1 Corinthian 3:16-17.
God desires that anyone who professes to be part of the body of Christ should be cleansed from sin. Twice Jesus cleansed and chased out false worshippers (sellers and money changers) who defiled the temple of God. Once at the beginning of his ministry in John Chapter two verse fourteen through sixteen, and once again at the end of his ministry in Matthew Chapter twenty one verse twelve through thirteen. Believer’s body is the temple of God and the house of God which is the collective body of believers should not be defiled by any member. Any defilement in the house of God attracts Judgment of God.
The judgment of God is upon leaders in the house of God who claim to be leading the people of God but not submitting to the leadership of the Holy Spirit. The Judgment of God is upon the workers and servants in the house of God who claim to be serving the members of the body of Christ indulging in secret sins. The Judgment of God is upon nominal members of the body of Christ who are instrumentals to the invasion of worldliness and ungodliness in the Church. The sad news is that all sinning leaders, workers and members in the house of God, if not come to repentance, will be condemned to eternal fire on the Judgment day.
The Good News is that God does not want you to go to hell from the church. He wants you to be genuinely born again. He has been patiently enduring you in His temple you all this while. He spared not Jesus but made him to pay for your salvation on the cross of Calvary. Salvation is free but not cheap. God wants you to work out you salvation by trembling at every bit of His word.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your love and warning. I am very sorry for grieving the Holy Spirit and for bringing defilement into the Church. Have mercy upon me and forgive me all my sins. Save me, sanctify me, baptize me in the Holy Spirit and grant me the grace to keep myself undefiled till the end in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
