TRACT 49: WHY DID JESUS COME TO EARTH?

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved” John 3:16-17.

The greatest being ever lived on earth and still living is Jesus. He was with God before the creation and had lived in heaven before he came down into the world. He came into this world through Virgin Mary. Mary conceived him sinless by the power of the Holy Ghost. Why did Jesus leave heaven and come to earth? He came to the earth to: seek and save the lost; reveal the truth; convey the love of God; set the captives free; raise up followers who will continue the works he began; sacrifice and pay the price for man’s redemption; take souls into heaven. Having finished all these, he was received alive into heaven “Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him” 1 Peter 3:22.

It is the will of God that all (men, women, boys, girls and children) believe in Jesus who is now in heaven; seated on the right hand of God. The lost are sinners, unbelievers and backsliders who are non followers of Jesus. The truth is the word of God. The love of God is that God does not want any sinner, unbeliever and backslider to perish in eternity. The captives are those under the bondage of sin, sickness and Satan. God wants all to repent and become obedient followers of Jesus. It is only those who believe in Jesus and his sacrificial works on earth that he will received into heaven to behold the Glory of God.

God is not pleased with sinners who have not come to repentance but wallowing in immoralities. God is not pleased with unbelievers who disbelieve that Jesus is the begotten Son of God and Saviour of the whole world. God is not pleased with disobedient Christians who are not continuing in the work of saving the lost. The sad news is that sinners, unbelievers and disobedient Christians, if not come to repentance will not see the Glory of God.

The Good news is that God loves you and wants you to be among the souls that will behold His Glory in heaven. He wants you to honour His Son by repenting from sin and surrendering your life totally unto him. Jesus has the power to save you from sin, sickness and Satan. He is waiting for you now.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for sending Jesus into the world to seek and save me. I acknowledge that I am a sinner. Have mercy upon me and forgive me all my sins. Save me, sanctify me, baptize me in the Holy Spirit and grant be the grace to remain your obedient child in Jesus’ name. Amen.
