Special Edition TRACT 45: ENGAGE THEM TO DISCOVER THEMSELVES

“And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written” Luke 4:16-17”

The Saviour Jesus understood the importance of engaging youth in the work of God; that was why he did not call the elders to be his apostles but the youths who where majorly in their twenties. They were Peter, Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew, James, Thaddeus, Simon and Judas Iscariot. Prior to the ministry of Jesus, the elders in the synagogue had been engaging Jesus in the reading of scriptures to the hearing of the entire congregation. It was one of the Sabath day that the Saviour Jesus discovered himself with the three fold ministry (preaching, teaching and healing) when one of the ministers delivered unto him the book of Isaiah to read “The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preached the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him” Luke 4:18-20.

It is the will of God that matured believers develop and engage youths in the work of God. Nothing stops the church from selecting youths on a regular basis to read the Bible, take announcement and lead prayers during hours of fellowship. The youths are agile set of people between childhood and adulthood. They are the greatest wealth and strength of any nation. Winning the youths early in life for Christ and engaging them in the work of God will prevent them from being instruments in the hands of devil; and make them discover their endowed gifts.

God is not happy with teachers, workers and leaders who have made themselves lords over others instead of being servants of all; just as the Lord Jesus demonstrated by washing his apostles’ feet. God is not happy with ministers who because of losing their positions have failed to bring out the best in others. He is not happy with youths who have not genuinely repented of their sins. He is also not happy with youths who are not using their God’s given talents for the edification of others but using it to glorify self and Satan. The sad news is that every member who fails to bear fruits and provoke others unto good works will face punishment here on earth and in eternity.

The Good News is that God love you and His church. He wants you to repent from sin and backslidden state of mind. God wants you to become an active member of the body of Christ. He wants you to have the three basic Christian’s experiences (salvation, sanctification and Holy Spirit baptism) so that you can serve him holily and appear before Him spotless in eternity. He is waiting for you now.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for correcting me in love. Forgive me my sins and for many ways I have not provoke others unto good works. Save me, sanctify me, baptize me in the Holy Spirit and grant me the grace to edify others in Jesus’ Name. Amen
