“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed” Isaiah 53:5.
The only sin leveled against him was that he called himself Son of God. He was traced in the night to the place where he went and prayed; betrayed by one of his closest friend and arrested by armed multitude. His closest friends abandoned him and fled when he was arrested; smote, spit on his face, stripped, beaten and mocked by the multitude and soldiers. The beating and whipping was so severe that it torn his flesh from head down to feet. A notorious sinner and murderer was released Jesus replaced him for crucifixion. He was made to carry his heavy cross a long distance to the place of crucifixion. The nails were driven into his hands and feet. The crown of thorns placed upon his heads cut deeply into his scalp; as he bled all over his body from head down to feet. He was in pain on the cross for six hours; tired, hungry, thirsty and struggled to grasp the air. All he had to say before giving up the ghost was “…Father, forgive them; for they know what they do…” Luke 23:34.
It is the will of God that all (men, women, boys, girls and children) appreciate the sacrificial work of Christ and believe in him. One of the crucified thieves beside Jesus appreciated the sacrifice paid by Jesus on the cross of Calvary, believed in him and he was made first convert of Calvary to enter paradise with Jesus. The other thief despised Jesus, believed not in him and found himself in hell fire. To believe in Jesus means to belief that Jesus is the Son of God sent with a message, died on the cross for the sin of the world, resurrected on the third day and received up into heaven. To appreciate Christ means to obey all the words of God at Christ’s mouth.
God is not happy with sinners who refuse to appreciate the sacrificial work of Christ to humanity but living after the works of the flesh (Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envying, murders, drunkenness, and reveling, smoking, stealing, lying tattooing, idolatry adornments and corrupt practices). He is not happy with religionists who do not believe that Jesus is the saviour of the world but embrace other prophets and idols. God is not happy with backslidden Christians who obey not the word of God at Jesus’ mouth. The sad news is that all those who fail to believe in Christ and appreciate his sacrificial love will not enter heaven but hell.
The Good News is that God loves you. He sent His only begotten Son to die for you and to save your soul from going to hell. He wants you to believe in him and appreciate his sacrificial love. He wants you to confess your sins, forsake them and surrender your life to Christ. He is waiting for you now.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your only begotten Son into the world to die for my sins and to deliver my soul from going to hell. Forgive me all my sins and cleanse me in the precious blood of the lamb Jesus. Save me, sanctify me, baptize me in the Holy Spirit and write my name in the book of life in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
