TRACT 25: JOHN THREE SIXTEEN

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” John 3:16.

John three sixteen is a popular verse of the Bible which is famous to children, youths and adults. It was borne out of conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus who happened to be a religious ruler of the Jews. Nicodemus acknowledged his spiritual incompleteness and the fact that Jesus is a messenger directly from God. Jesus knew the thought of his heart and told him that except a man be born again (born of water and of the Spirit) he cannot enter the kingdom of God. The word “born again” generated iota of disbelief in Nicodemus. Not too long, there arose a question between the Jews and the disciples of John the Baptist regarding purifying and the ministry of Jesus. They came to John and he attested that Jesus was sent by God to speak His words “For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life: but the wrath of God abideth on him” John 3: 34 & 36.

It is the will of God that all (men, women, boys, girls and children) believe in the sinless Jesus who submitted to God and made himself sacrificial lamb on the cross of Calvary for the sins of the world. What does it mean to believe in Jesus? It means to believe that God sent Jesus to save the world and to deliver His words. The words of God from his mouth is that man must be born again before he can enter Heaven. What does it mean to be born again? It means to die to the old life of sin, purify in the precious blood of Jesus and living in the newness of life in Jesus through the help of the Holy Spirit. A born again man has the Holy Spirit residing in his heart and the Holy Spirit helps him to manifest all the nine fruit of the Spirit which are; love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance.

God is not happy with sinners who are living after the works of the flesh (Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, and reveling, smoking, stealing, lying and corrupt practices). He is not happy with religious leaders who esteem other prophets higher than Jesus and preventing their followers from believing in Jesus. He is not happy with backslidden Christians who claim they believe in Jesus but are living in sins. The sad news is that anyone who is not born again will spend eternity in Hell.

The Good News is that God loves you. He spared not His beloved Son but made him a sacrificial lamb for your sins on the cross of Calvary. He does not want your soul to end in Hell but to be with Him in Heaven. God wants you to believe in Jesus and be born again. He is waiting for you now.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your love and for sending Jesus to bear my iniquities upon him on the cross of Calvary. Forgive me all my sins and unbelief. Save me, purify me, baptize me in the Holy Spirit and grants me daily grace to manifest the nine fragrant fruit of the Spirit in Jesus’ Name. Amen
