“But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death” James 1:14-15
The devil is the greatest enemy of man, and man also is the enemy of himself. The mission of the devil is to steal and infiltrate man’s heart with evil imaginations, kill his body and destroy his soul in hell. He does that by enticing man with the evil desires of his five sense of organ (eyes, nose, ears, tongue and skin). Man often put blame on devil when he fell into sin but always quick to forget that he has the will power to submit himself to God or yield to evil desires. “Submit yourselves therefore to God, Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded” James 4:7-8.
It is the will of God that all (men, women, boys, girls and children) submit themselves to Him and flee from the bait of devil. Bait is food put on a hook to lure and catch fish. The bait usually a small piece of earthworm, is fixed to a hook at the end of a tiny long rope. As the fish tries to bite the bait, it swallows the hook and gets caught. The devil employs this method to lure and destroy man. He entices his eyes with money, corrupt scenes, pictures, images, movies and worldliness; his nose with the smell of alcohol, cigarettes and illicit drugs; his ears with corrupt speeches, words and music; his tongues with idolatry foods and dangerous drinks; his skins with Jezebel’s make up, tattoo, idolatry adornments and seductive wears.
God is not happy with sinners who are in the devil’s trap, wallowing in sin of sexual immoralities, idolatry, drunkenness, smoking, theft, murder, witchcraft, uncleanness and evil practices. God is not happy backslidden Christians who are grieving the Holy Spirit with their five sense of organ. Satan makes sin sweet and fun to its subject but conceals its bitterness and damnation that accompany sin; which are sickness, sadness, shame, sorrow and death. The sad news is that many souls are presently burning in hell because they were victims of devil’s baits during their life time. The Good news is that God wants to set you free from the devil’s trap. He wants to empower you with His word so that you can overcome the devil and his bait. He wants you to accept His free gift of salvation through Jesus, so that you can have total freedom in Him. He is waiting for you now.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for exposing the tactics of the devil to me. Have mercy upon me and cleanse my heart from every evil imagination. Save me, sanctify me, baptize me in the Holy Spirit and help me to live daily in total submission to you in Jesus’ Name. Amen
