TRACT 17: SOBER REFLECTION
“But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be which thou hast provided?” Luke 12:20
Have you ever considered that you may sleep one day and never wake up again? Have you counted the cost if your soul should be lost in hell? The parable of a rich fool was told by Jesus. His ground brought forth plentiful yields. He neither thought of giving glory to God nor considered the poor; but only thought of his self comfort, using the devil personal pronouns of pride “I” six times and “My” five times. “And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry” Luke 12:17-19.
It is the will of God that all (men, women, boys, girls and children) make Him center of their lives. The center of life is the heart of man, which is also the seat of human thoughts and operations. Out of the heart, proceeds an either good or evil thought. The soul of the rich fool was taken away by God not because he was very rich or hard working, but because he was self centered did not ascribe glory unto God. He had the evil thought of pride, covetousness and self. He died without carrying any of products of his labour with Him to eternity in Hell. All knowing God sees the hearts of every human being on earth. He knows the good and evil thoughts of all hearts, and He will judge every one according to his/her thoughts and works.
God is not happy with sinners whose hearts are defiled with evil thoughts of murder, adultery, fornication, theft, anger, false witness, covetousness, lusts, pride, self gratification and evil imaginations. He is not happy with sinners and unbelievers who have not accepted Jesus and given Him place in their hearts. He is not happy with those who are not using their God’s given talents, skills, riches and wealth for promoting His glory and to helping the needy. He is not happy with those using short cuts to getting fame, certificates, desires, wealth and riches. The sad news is that those abhorring evil thought s and practicing evil works are on their way to hell. The Good news is that God wants to cleanse you from all evil imaginations, and this can only happen through Jesus. He wants you to acknowledge that you are a sinner and needed salvation. He wants you to confess your sins and ask Him to cleanse your heart with the precious blood of Jesus. He wants to give you His Holy Spirit and help you hid His word in your Heart; so that you can have power to resist the temptation of evil thought. He is waiting for you now.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your word and the free gift of the Holy Spirit. Forgive me all my sins and cleanse me in the precious blood of Jesus. Come into my heart Holy Spirit and drive away every evil imagination from my hearts. Help me to make you center of my life and to extend your love to the needy in Jesus’ Name. Amen
