TRACT 3: SINGING WITH GRACE?

“ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord” Colossians 3:16

                Music has been part of worship to God right from the creation. The morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy when the Lord laid the cornerstone and the foundation of the earth. In the Old Testament, singers and instrumentalists were appointed for the musical service of the temple which where majorly hymns and spiritual songs. In the New Testaments, Jesus sang hymns with the apostles during the Lord’s Supper. “And when they had sang hymns, they went out into the Mount of Olives” Mathew 26:30.

                It is the will of God that all men, women, boys, girls and children participate in true worship. True worship through songs glorifies God and edifies the body of Christ. God is glorified when His Children worship Him in spirit and truth, and sing with expression of gratitude and joy in heart to the LORD. Today, many songs which are rendered to God are like filthy noise in Heaven because their tunes and lyrics are not fully Holy Spirit inspired. Flesh made songs and music imitated from rock, pop, jazz, blues, reggae and other secular beats are now substituted for cool psalms, hymns and spiritual songs which are meant for worship and edification. God is more pleased and glorified in songs accompanied with clap and rendered out of grace in heart than flesh music and songs accompanied on sophisticated music instruments without the spirit of God.  Because of few sacred words incorporated in some so called gospel music, many are deceived to get them, play them and sing them during fellowship.

                God is not happy that flesh made music and songs are used in His sanctuary. They are filthy noise in Heaven. He is not happy with those who sing out of polluted and ungrateful hearts. Many have been made fans and instrument of Satan by selling, buying, hearing and singing worldly music and so called gospel music. God is not happy with singers who started in His sanctuary and ended singing for self glory, money, women and praise of men. God is not happy with gospel singers and instrumentalists whose hearts, mouths and fingers are stained with sins, and those imitating rock stars, hip-pop stars and renowned music stars in dressing and mode of singing. The sad news is that Satan is a deceiver, helping artists and singers create beats and melodies that sound pleasing in the ears and anyone who is a fan are on their path to destruction.

                The Good news is that God want you to worship Him in truth and spirits; and singing with grace in your heart to Him. You cannot truly worship God if you are not born again. He wants you to repent from making yourself a fan of worldly music and evil practices. He wants to save your soul from Hell, sanctify your heart and baptize you in the Holy Spirit so that you can sing with grace in your heart.

                Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for sending Jesus to die for me. Forgive me all the polluted worship I have rendered unto you. Cleanse me, save me, sanctify my heart and Baptist me in the Holy Spirit so that I can render acceptable worship to you in Jesus’ Name. Amen
