TRACT 140: A FRUITFUL CHRISTIAN?
"Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit" John 15:2.
Show me a person having the three spiritual experiences (salvation, sanctification and Holy Spirit Baptism) and bearing the nine fruit of the spirit daily; and I will tell you the person is a Christian. The fruit of the Spirit are attributes of a holiness lifestyle which the Holy Spirit develops in a Christian " But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law" Galatians 5:22-23.
LOVE: Loves his neighbour as he loves himself; and loves God with the whole of his body, soul and spirit.
JOY: Rejoices in hope of Eternal Life more than pleasures and challenges of life.
Peace: Always at peace with all men.
Longsuffering: Slow to anger and patience with people.
Gentleness: Not aggressive and does not quarel.
Goodness: Friendly, generous and always considering the good of others.
Faith: Loyal to the teachings and commands of Christ.
Meekness: References the Lord and have regard for others.
Temperance: has self control over lust, actions and ungodliness.
Jesus said" If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned" John 15:6. Are you abiding and bearing fruit for the Lord? Paradventure the reader lacks the three Christian's experiences, kindly say the following prayers.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for calling me unto salvation, sanctification and Holy Spirit baptism. Here am I Lord in humility of heart, have mercy upon me and save me from the yoke of sins. Cleanse me in your precious blood and baptize me in this Holy Spirit; and grant me the grace to bring forth the fruit of the Spirit daily. In Jesus' Name. Amen
